Privacy Policy

PickleCourts (picklecourts.rent, our iPhone and Android apps, and the PickleCourts connectors for AI assistants such as ChatGPT and Claude) is operated by Juniper Lane Software LLC, 800 N. Oklahoma Ave. #1121, Oklahoma City, OK 73104, USA ("PickleCourts", "we", "us"). This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. It does not cover a venue's own website, app or booking system; those have their own policies.
Information We Collect
Information you give us:
- Account details: your name, email address, phone number and password (we store only a scrambled version of the password).
- Bookings: the venue, court, date, time, price, promo code and booking notes, plus the name, email and phone number you booked under.
- Payments: card payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number; we keep the card brand, last four digits and expiry so you can recognize a saved card.
- Your home area: the city area you choose for offers, or, if you haven't chosen one, the area of your latest booking.
- Marketing choices: whether you asked for offer emails, when and where you made each choice, and which version of the consent wording you saw.
- Messages: what you send us when you contact support.
Information collected automatically:
- Location: if you allow it, your device's location is used on your device to center the map and sort courts by distance. We do not store your precise location.
- Usage: the cities and venues you view, the times you tap, and the booking links you follow, with a random ID stored in the app or browser, your IP address, browser or device type, and your account if you are signed in.
- Notifications: if you allow notifications in the app, a push token for your phone so we can send them.
Information from others:
- AI assistants you connect: if you link your PickleCourts account to an assistant such as ChatGPT or Claude, we receive the searches and booking requests it sends us on your behalf. We do not receive the rest of your conversation.
- Venues: a venue that uses PickleCourts to run its own bookings or member list may give us its members' details. We handle that information for the venue, under the venue's instructions, and do not use it for our own marketing.
How We Use Your Information
- To find courts, show availability and prices, and process and confirm your bookings.
- To take payments, issue refunds and handle disputes.
- To send booking confirmations, reminders, receipts, password resets and messages about your bookings or account.
- To pass your booking details to the venue so it can hold your court.
- To keep the service secure, prevent fraud and abuse, and fix problems.
- To understand how PickleCourts is used and improve it, mostly through counts and trends.
- If you opt in, to email you offers for open courts and deals near you (see the next section).
- To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.
Offers and Marketing
We send offer emails only to people who ask for them. The box is never ticked for you, and booking is never conditional on ticking it. Booking confirmations, reminders and other messages about your bookings or account are not offers and are sent either way.
- What offers are: discounts and open court times at venues near you. Venues pay to promote them, and each email says so.
- How we choose them: using your home area and your booking habits on PickleCourts, such as the days and times you usually play. We do not buy data about you from anyone.
- How often: at most one offer every three days and two in any week.
- Measuring results: to check whether offers actually help, some players who asked for offers are, at random, not sent a particular offer. Venues see only totals, never who received an offer or who booked from one.
- What venues learn: we never tell one venue what you booked at another and never give a venue a list of who received its offer. A venue gets your details only when you book with it.
- Stopping them: untick the box in your Profile, use the unsubscribe link in any offer email, or email [email protected]. You do not need to sign in. We stop right away, and in any case within 10 business days.
- Other channels: we do not send offers by text message. We would send offers as app notifications only if you separately turn that on.
How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information, we do not share it for cross-context behavioral (targeted) advertising, and we do not show ads based on your activity on other sites. We share it only as follows:
- The venue you book with: your name, contact details and booking details, so it can hold your court and contact you about it.
- Service providers who work for us under contracts that limit their use of the data: Amazon Web Services (hosting and storage), Stripe (payments and fraud checks), Mailgun (email delivery), Twilio (automated calls to venues about bookings), Cloudflare (website delivery and security), Google Maps (maps on our website), Expo, Apple and Google (app notifications), and OpenAI (for venues that use our member search tool, to read the venue's own search requests).
- AI assistants you connect: the results of the searches and bookings you ask them to make.
- Legal and safety: when required by law or legal process, or to protect the rights, property or safety of our users, venues or others.
- Business changes: to a buyer or successor if PickleCourts is sold, merged or reorganized, who must keep honoring this policy for information already collected.
Cookies, Tracking and Do Not Track
Our website uses your browser's storage to keep you signed in and to hold the random ID described above. We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels, and we do not track you across other companies' sites or apps. Stripe (on checkout pages), Google Maps (on map pages) and Cloudflare may collect information such as your IP address when you use those parts of the site, under their own privacy policies.
Because we do not track you across sites, our service works the same whether or not your browser sends a Do Not Track signal. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of any sale or sharing of your personal information, which we already do not do.
How Long We Keep It
- Your account: until you delete it.
- When you delete your account: we immediately erase your name, phone number, password and email address from your profile, along with your home area, push tokens, connected AI assistants and saved cards.
- Bookings and payments: booking records, including the name, email and phone number used for each booking, are kept for tax, accounting, refunds and disputes, generally for seven years, then deleted.
- Usage data: moved out of our live systems after 90 days and kept only in archived form for analysis.
- Marketing choices: a record of each opt-in and opt-out is kept so we can prove consent and keep honoring an unsubscribe.
Security
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls that limit who on our team can see your information, and Stripe for card handling. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your information, we will tell you as the law requires.
Your Choices and Rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- Tell you what personal information we have about you and give you a copy.
- Correct information that is wrong.
- Delete your information, subject to the records we must keep (see How Long We Keep It).
- Stop sending you offers, or withdraw any consent you gave.
- Opt out of the sale of your data, targeted advertising and profiling with legal effects. We do none of these.
You can delete your account yourself under Profile, in the app or at picklecourts.rent. For anything else, email [email protected] from the email address on your account (so we can confirm it's you) or have an authorized agent contact us with your signed permission. We answer within 45 days. We will not treat you differently for using these rights. If we decline your request, you can appeal by replying to our answer; if you are still not satisfied, you may contact your state attorney general or your local privacy regulator.
California residents: we do not share personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing. Nevada residents: we do not sell covered information.
Children
PickleCourts is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, email us and we will delete it.
Where We Process Information
We are based in the United States, and our service providers store and process information in the United States and other countries. If you use PickleCourts from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those where you live.
Changes to This Policy
When we change this policy we update the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we use information we already have, we will tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect, and we will ask for your consent where the law requires it.
